Sorting Things Out

Arcos was standing on the edge of the balcony looking down over the landscape below. His soft, scarlet eyes travelled up and down the slopes and cliffs idly, taking in the landscape as he waited and prepared himself for whatever was about to take place for honestly he had no idea. Inhaling slowly, the dark avian places a half-smoked butt between his lips and put a small flame to it.

Dawn takes slow steps up the stairs her foot full echoing off the walls the women actually feeling nervous about having this kind of talk with Arcos. Coming to a stop just in the boor away, the avian casts a miserable gaze on her friends winged back before dropping her head like a misbehaving child and walks over to stand beside him with out a word.

Arcos knew she was there. Of course he did, but he did not turn to look at her nor did he open his mouth to speak. He just exhales the smoke time after time until finally he flicks the cigg over the edge, exhaling this time through his nose as he turns to her. Idly, the dark avian's hand moves to the railing as his red eyes (or so the one that was visible) scan over her before he chuckles. "Don't look so ashamed," he says down to her, "It's not like we have actually done anything yet."

Dawn just stares blankly at the mountains. Wanting to just climb over and let herself fall, like the butt that had been thrown over the side. “ easy for you to say” she sighs, not looking at him in case she lost it and had to leave quickly “ your not married” lowering her hood to shake out her mane of hair loose for once.

Arcos nods slowly, inhaling softly as he turns back to look over the horizion. " I supoose that makes a difference..." He leans against the rails, his back bending as his elbows prop up on it. "But I still don't see why it's -that- big of a difference. So you have a crush on me... It's not as if you are ready to throw away your marrige for me... It's not as if you are cheating on your husband and crawling back into bed with him at night... It's not as if we are sneaking around, having an affair."

Dawn reaches behind her to pull her hair over one shoulder, running her pale fingers throw it “ I shouldn’t sent you that letter, the moment I did it I regretted it “ actually turning look at him now “ you do have a good point, we haven’t done anything, but we could that’s what I mean. what if I forget myself or something, I’m sure a mans restraint can only go so far” clenching her teeth, the avian aims a hard kick at the railings in frustration, tears springing to eyes “ the first day I met you and what you said, I don’t think I have ever come a cross a man who has been quite so understand “

Arcos watches Dawn for a moment, watching the emotion that filled her body and fueled her tears and her frustration. He also knew such a frustration and he knew that somewhere in her words she spoke the truth. Scarlet hues shift to gaze at her face, his body slowly turning. Clenching his own teeth he shook his head. "No, it's far better that we both know about it instead of letting it fester in the back of your mind..." He inhales slowly, calming himself. "We just must make sure we control ourselves... You are very beautiful but... It's far too late for us... You were taken far before I ever showed my scarred face around here... Now we would risk everything we have built... We'd risk living in a lie..."

Dawn stumbles backwards caching the railing before falling over, her body shaking with emotion breathing heavily. Watching him turn away from her, feeling cold and not to any surprise worse “ I probably would have told you eventually“ wiping her eyes on the corner of her sleeve “ you are to you know that. I just want to feel your arms around me and feel your lips on mine, Ahhh! Holding her head as she shakes it trying to rid the won ton thoughts from her mind “ I’m a horrible, selfish bitch!”

Arcos shakes his head, a hand reaching out to touch her to calm her down. "Dawn... Don't say that about yourself... these feelings...these feelings are normal... It's not your fault our genetics are screaming out for one another... It's only our fault if we give in..." He frowns. "I mean, you have your husband for this... And I have Aislinn..."

Dawn was about to swing around to knock his hand away but stops, her shoulders slumping in personal defeat at his touch, making her stomach flutter “this is exactly my point, I shouldn’t be having feeling for someone else. Even if it is normal” reluctantly taking his hand from her, to brush her lips over it then lets it drop “ your right as always, you have Aislinn, who I can see is crazy about you. And I have Veriun. I certainly don’t want them to hate use and most importantly, I don’t want to ruin my rather attractive friend’s chance of happiness or lose him as one”

Arcos moves his hand so his arms were now crossed, shifting his feet as his face turned to look over the edge again. "I think I understand what you're telling me... So I'll try to say what I think I should say..." he inhales. "For the sake of your marriage and the sake of my relationship with Aislinn, we should keep our feelings a secret.... I think we can keep our friendship... even if we crave something deeper from each other..."

Dawn follows suite, resting her elbow on the flat surface to rest her head in her hands “ I think it would be the best thing” looking across to him throw a sheet of fine white hair “ not the easiest course of action, but I would rather know you then not at all” the conures of her mouth twitching up into a smile.

Arcos smiles, brushing a few strands of ebon hair behind his ear before his wings give a shuddered. "No... but the best things in life are never easy." He turns that smile upon Dawn and continues. "I think we can make it.... Like you said, I rather know you as a friend than not at all." He pauses to look over the landscape, his wings opening slightly. "But now I must get back to Aislinn. She's sick and hurt and with child. I really need to get back to her." He leans over to place a kiss on her cheek before he jumps up on the rail and gives her a wink over his shoulder. "I'll be seeing you around then." he says before he let's gravity carry him off the side of the balcony, his wings spreading to let the wind them, slowing his fall into a gaceful glide.

Dawn nods her head, heaving deep sight, resting her head on the one hand, so that her face was turned fully towards him brushing her hair out of her face “ hopefully, oh of course by all means go” lifting her head up to stand back to give him some room. Her breath caching in her throat, as his lips touch her cheek while her mouth pops open in the same surprised look she had at the party “ cheeky” touching the place he had kissed her with a chuckle. “ yes, Farwell” watching him fly away with a wishful smile.
